abstract

This 18 yo female with a history of IBD, presented with increasing rectal bleeding of maroon stools, and Meckel's scan that was positive. sequently resected at surgery. The pathology revealed injured intestinal mucosa adjacent to surface ulceration with extensive inflammatory ulcer exudate. Underlying the ulcer is marked chronic inflammation. Other areas show epithelioid granulomas characterized by a collection of plump pink histiocytes within a lymphoid aggregate. The mucosal and histologic findings seen here demonstrate features characteristic of small bowel Crohn’s disease.
